What one wrote playfully, another reads with tension and passion; what one wrote with tension and passion, another reads playfully.

About This Quote

We all write poems or stories in our heads, but when we share them with others, they are often met with different reactions. It’s natural to assume that everyone will react to your words exactly the same way. Sometimes this is true, but usually it isn’t. What one person might read with ease and understanding another will see as a struggle.

This is a very human aspect of the creative process. The creative mind has a way of seeing things in a different light than most people. Just because you wrote something does not mean that your reader will see it the same way you did when you wrote it.

And, just because they didn’t see it the same way you did doesn’t mean that you should change what you wrote in order to make it clearer for them. You may have written the best poem in the world, but if your reader doesn’t understand it, well, then perhaps it isn’t meant for them to understand it.
